She does not worry about her and her husband’s mental health or the potential heavy stone on his soul that he would carry for the rest of his life. Lady Macbeth also does not follow general conventional moral principles, for example, she feels okay about killing a person. All these factors make her even more fearless and ready to kill people to reach her goal. It might be the consequence of her illness which then killed her, but Lady Macbeth is a portrait of an obsessed merciless killer who just put the burden of the crime on Macbeth.

In fact, the woman is shamed only “To wear a heart so white” and tries to make Macbeth think the same way and asks Macbeth why he “do unbend your noble strength, to think/ So brainsickly of things” while he could not control his thoughts and feeling of being guilty and about the crime itself. Furthermore, while Macbeth is shocked after his crime, Lady Macbeth stays calm and advises Macbeth to “get some water/And wash this filthy witness from your hand” which means to just continue a normal life and do not worry about anything. She takes Duncan's blood and smears his guards to whom she adds sleeping pills into drinks by the way. Macbeth, whose psyche is stronger (as people believed in times of Shakespeare) than his wife’s, but she is stable unlike Macbeth who cannot settle down. Lady Macbeth is downright fearless. In summation, Macbeth’s wife is an incredibly strong and powerful woman, who would do anything and everything to get the title of king and was not scared of anyone on her way.

Another reason why Lady Macbeth is an elaborate villain it that she also generates a complicated plan of actions of the Duncan’s murder by herself. She says that

“When Duncan is asleep

Whereto the rather shall his day's hard journey

Soundly invite him his two chamberlains

Will I with wine and wassail so convince

That memory, the warder of the brain,

Shall be a fume, and the receipt of reason

A limbeck only: when in swinish sleep

Their drenched natures lie as in a death,

What cannot you and I perform upon

The unguarded Duncan? what not put upon

His spongy officers, who shall bear the guilt

Of our great quell?”

Not every killer can create a decent algorithm of a crime, but Macbeth wife does as Duncan is dead and all the suspicions fell upon his sons who “Are stol'n away and fled; which puts upon them/Suspicion of the deed.” Lady Macbeth is a brainy and smart woman who takes into account all the details and trivia. According to the editor of Promozg, killers carefully plan the murder and usually they have high results in an IQ test . It is a needed addition for a skillful villain. Lady Macbeth almost immediately creates a plan in her head and tells Macbeth what he should do.

Only a professional killer can commit a crime and not commit it at the same time. The point is that Lady Macbeth inspires her husband to kill Duncan, but it is only her decision that she put in the mind of Macbeth. Macbeth does not want to “proceed no further in this business”, however his wife has different opinion and she actually makes him to kill Duncan. It can be said that lady Macbeth is actually Duncan’s killer, but she uses her husband as a tool for the action itself. For that reason, she stays in a shadow of her partner and even acts as if Duncan’s death was really important and almost ruined her life. «Help me hence, ho!»Lady Macbeth is ashamed, yet about she did not kill anyone, however a deeper review would imply her guilt. Moreover, the woman provokes the murders of other characters such as Banko, Macduff etc. because Macbeth loses his own principle not to kill people that he has at the beginning of the play. This happens after his first and the most difficult crime connected to Duncan. However, people accuse not the Macbeth’s family, but the ones who are not guilty at all. The strangest thing is that Lady Macbeth wants her husband to be king, but then the crimes destroy her mental health and she dies. Macbeth’s wife reaches her goal when Macbeth is “king, Cawdor, Glamis, all” (3.1.1) even despite the deaths of lots of innocent people and in spite of the fact that she also dies with them. Lady Macbeth creates a long way to reach her purpose and the fact that a lot of people die shows her skills and readiness to literally walk over corpses. This characteristic also demonstrates how great Lady Macbeth is as a villain.

In conclusion, Lady Macbeth’s well thought out plan, daring and talent to convince people make her the greatest villain in a whole Shakespeare’s play Macbeth.
