The War of the Worlds is a science fiction novel by H. G. Wells, first published in 1898. It is about a Martian invasion of Earth.
The novel is divided into three parts. The first part is about the invasion itself, and the second part is about the Earthlings’ attempts to fight back. The third part is about the aftermath of the war.
The Martians come to Earth in huge, three-legged machines. They are armed with heat-rays and chemical weapons, and they are very difficult to kill. The Martians are also accompanied by huge flying machines, which can drop bombs.
The Martians start to destroy everything in their path. They kill millions of people, and they destroy most of the major cities on Earth.
The humans try to fight back, but they are no match for the Martians. eventually, the Martians start to get sick, and they begin to die. It is later discovered that a microbe from Earth is killing them.
With the Martians gone, the humans have to rebuild their civilization.
