Malala Yousafzai is a Pakistani student and education activist who, at the age of seventeen, became the youngest person to win the Nobel Peace Prize. Yousafzai’s advocacy has since grown into an international movement, and she has become an outspoken critic of the Taliban’s treatment of women and girls. In October 2012, Yousafzai was shot by a Taliban gunman in an assassination attempt, but she survived and has continued her campaigning for girls’ education.
