In “Endurance”, author Alfred Lansing recounts the true story of the Imperial Trans-Antarctic expedition of 1914-1917, in which 28 men spent nearly two years stranded on an ice floe in the Weddell Sea off Antarctica. The story is told through the diary entries and letters of expedition leader Ernest Shackleton, as well as the accounts of the other survivors. The book details the physical and mental challenges the men faced in their fight for survival, as well as the camaraderie and teamwork that helped them pull through.
