“Breath, Eyes, Memory” is a novel written by Edwidge Danticat and published in 1994. The novel tells the story of a young Haitian woman named Sophie Caco, who is raised in Haiti by her mother,Martine. When Sophie is twelve years old, she is sent to live with her father in New York City. There, she must learn to navigate a new culture and language, as well as grapple with her own identity. The novel explores the themes of mother-daughter relationships, the immigrant experience, and the search for self.
