Big Brother is the face of the totalitarian government in the book 1984, he is never directly seen but his image is everywhere and he is revered as a godlike figure by the citizens of Oceania.

Emmanuel Goldstein

Emmanuel Goldstein is a fictional character from George Orwell’s novel 1984. He is the supposed leader of a subversive group called The Brotherhood. He is described as a former member of the Party who became disillusioned and rebelled against it. His image on posters as the Enemy of the People serves as a symbol of the Party’s power and the need for constant vigilance against dissent.

Julia

Julia, a dark-haired girl, is a member of the anti-sex league in the dystopian world of 1984. She works at the Fiction Department and is a rebel who engages in a secret relationship with the protagonist, Winston Smith.

Mr. Charrington

Mr. Charrington is an elderly shopkeeper who initially appears friendly and kind to the main character, Winston Smith, but is later revealed to be a member of the Thought Police working for the Party.

Ampleforth is a minor character in the book 1984, who works in the Ministry of Truth as a poet. He is depicted as a man who values beauty and poetry, but is also naive and unaware of the government’s control over his work. He is eventually arrested for committing thought crime and is tortured by the Party.

Mrs. Parsons

Mrs. Parsons is a minor character in George Orwell’s dystopian novel 1984, who is depicted as a middle-aged woman who lives in the same apartment complex as the protagonist Winston Smith. She is portrayed as a loyal supporter of the Party, blindly accepting its ideology and obeying its commands, even if they contradict her own conscience. Syme

Syme is a character in the dystopian novel 1984 by George Orwell. He is a linguistic expert and works in the Ministry of Truth in Oceania. However, he becomes a victim of the oppressive regime when he’s disappeared for his independent thinking and language skills.

Katharine Smith

Katharine Smith is a minor character in the book 1984, described as Winston Smith’s wife who is emotionless, conformist and loyal to the Party.

Jones

Jones is a minor character in the book 1984, who works at the Ministry of Truth. He is described as a typical Party member, unquestioningly loyal to Big Brother and the Party’s ideologies.

Aaronson

Aaronson is a former member of the Inner Party who was tortured and forced to confess to committing thoughtcrime. He is now broken and disillusioned, spending his days drinking and reminiscing about the past, his former allies and his betrayal.
