You donut want the enemy of the United States army to get a hold of these items and use them against you, your unit, or the people you protect. The second reason being personal safety, you dont want other people in or out the military to get a hold of your personal information and use it to abuse your name and credit. Another reason why you need to always maintain your sensitive items is accountability, at all times in the military you are accountable of your sensitive items you must maintain these items all times.

The reason why operational security is so important for you to maintain as a soldier is because its the safety of you, your unit, and the United States army. If the enenemy is able to use your sensitive item to harm soldiers, civilians, buildings or equipment you if will be held accountable for that.

The Importance Of Securing Sensitive Items include protective gear, maps, or a piece of paper designating patrol routes, recall rosters etc... The importance of securing sensitive items comes down to maintaining accountability for operation security, mission success and a soldiers over all readiness. The habits of exercising security and accountability of a soldiers items allow the soldier and their team to operate to the highest state of readiness or have items be accessed by an opposing adversary creating loss of overall mission success. Operational security is a process that denied critical information to an adversary. If one were to obtain the information presented it could be used against friendly forces or friendly nations. Utilizing all assets to maintain and secure sensitive items and classified information promote proper operational security and soldier readiness. Not securing items of sensitive nature acquire the risk of loss by being intercepted by unauthorized persons.

All personnel should maintain accountability You dont want that on your conscious as a person knowing your actions led to a terror attack. It is very important to secure all your sensitive equipment and items, and maintain accountability. The reason simply is to keep very important high cost valued items and equipment accounted for so people all around you do not have to deal with the consequences of the lost item or equipment. Also every sensitive item or equipment is high dollar valued so if you lose it you will be hurting money wise by losing a grand or more easily right on the spot. And after that you can possibly do jail time from six months to a year and sure there will be rank taken away or something along those lines. You might even get an article fifteen after all that or maybe when you have to pay for the lost sensitive equipment or item so these should be a main priority to maintain and know where they are at all times and are accounted for either battle buddy or maybe CQ desk or the CP if their not personally on you. But in the end I am the one who needs to be accountable at all times, I won't say that losing your ID card is completely out of your control, but even losing it twice can happen obviously.

Things happen, we've all lost something before, hell I had lost $100 cash before. When I woke up the next day and couldn't find it, I was so pissed, but it happened and there was nothing I could do about it, just had to take it as a loss. I’m only human, and this will not be the last mistake I ever make. However, I wont make the same mistake over and over again. I can’t expect my chain of command to entrust Soldier’s to me if I cannot be accountiable for my actions. I truly regret not having better accountability of myself. I have caused work to be late due to the fact that I let my personal issues cloud my judgement. It will not happen again.

I need to ensure that I always strive to do better and achieve all of the goals in which I have set forth. I now realize that no matter what issue I am having that I need to communicate better with my chain of command so that they can help me. If I would have communicated more with my chain of command then there would not have been an issue with my wear abouts. I need to ensure that I am in the proper place at all times and if I am not then I need to ensure that someone knows where I am at all times. I must ensure that my Soldier’s are where they are supposed to be in their proper uniform. I need to ensure that I am that to receive the proper information to put out to them. If I do not put out the information to my Soldiers then I have failed them. It could be consequences for the Soldier due to me not putting out the information in time. Also, I must always b e accountable for my actions no matter how severe the consequences are. I need to teach the Soldier’s that it is best to have integrity in all situations. By not have good accountability for myself I did not live up to all of the Army values.

Once you have neglected one army value then you might have well neglected them all. Also by not making it to accountability it looks like I was blowing off pregnancy pt. Pregnancy pt is a post wide program and is mandatory that you let them know where you are during pt hours due to them needed to have accountablilty for you. They report to your chain of command all shows and no shows. As the training NCO I am accountable for ensuring that all training events are recorded and reported accurately. It is very important to have accountablility of all training documents to ensure that I am reporting everything properly. Accountability is one of the most important things in the Army. Working in the orderly room also makes me accountable for reporting the numbers of the whole unit. If I am not at work working on the stats ensuring that I know where everyone is at all times I have also failed my chain of command. Not having good accountability for Soldiers in combat could cause someone to lose their life. I could not live with myself if I cause someone to be injured or someone get injured because I failed them.

If you can not be there then what is your team going to think when they hear over the radio that you are on the way and you are the only one that can help them.

People get snatched up every day so if this were to happen to you your team and squad leader may not notice till it’s too late.
