The Mughal Empire was a powerful Islamic state that ruled most of India from 1526 to 1858. It was founded by Babur, a descendant of Genghis Khan and Timur, who took control of Delhi and Agra with the help of superior artillery and cavalry. Under Akbar the Great, the Mughal Empire became a prosperous and culturally rich kingdom, with impressive architecture, literature, and art. However, it declined after the death of Aurangzeb due to excessive spending on wars, weak successors, and pressure from European powers. The legacy of the Mughals can still be seen in many aspects of Indian culture and history.
