Charles Darwin was the first to propose the mechanism of evolution. This is called natural selection. Evolution – Changes that occur in humans over time. For example: Polar bears were brown in but we had to go north and they changed to then turned white to other animals. Niche - specialized organism, role in its environment (specific function) Generalist - organism that can live anywhere and eat whatever it wants. Example - jackal, lynx, raccoon Expert - animal that is very meticulous about where it lives and what it eats.

Example: polar bear, koala bear Endemic - A species found nowhere else in this region. Example: Animals of Australia Resource Zoning - Where two species live together and separate from trees. Examples: Polar Bears and Brown Bears Speciation - This is when a group within a species develops its own characteristics by separating from other members of its species. Allopatric - occurs in non-overlapping areas. Sympathetic- A species has different characteristics despite being similar.
