Drake's Equation and Fermi Paradox: Alien Life Odds

I beg you've thought about it at least once when you look at the numbers the infinite size of the universe the countless stars and planets and galaxies that exist it seems crazy to assume we're alone what would be so special about us this is what dr. Frank Drake try to point out with his famous equation used to estimate the number of active extraterrestrial civilizations in the Milky Way galaxy he proposed that if you multiply the average rate of star formation in our galaxy the fraction of stars that have planets the average number of planets per star that could potentially support life the fraction of those planets who actually develop life the fraction of plants where intelligent life has developed the fraction of those civilizations who have developed communications and the length of time they release detectable signals you could figure out how many alien civilizations they're aware of course many of these variables are extremely hard to estimate and the equation was developed more to bring scientific attention to the search of alien life than anything else but Drake's estimates using his formula concluded that they were probably between a thousand and hundred million civilizations in the Milky Way galaxy alone what's amazing about this is that this only reflects alien life in your own galaxy that we're in right now there are about 100 billion galaxies in the observable universe so imagine what the number would look like if we applied it to the whole universe however if there are so many civilizations outside our planet why haven't we heard from them this is the point of the Fermi paradox and it looks at the contradiction between the lack of evidence and the high probability estimates for the existence of extraterrestrial civilizations where is everybody assuming interstellar travel at the current slow pace of Earth technology it would only take five million 250 million years to colonize.
