My topic for my passion project was to learn and talk about the history of Lasagna. So lasagna is an Italian food that was introduced in the 19th century. Lasagna is a popular food because it is the most famous among tourists and it flourishes in the west. Italian food is also known as being healthy. The ingredients to keeping this famous food healthy are, seafood and olive oil both of these ingredients are beneficial to heart health. Italian food is the most popular food all over the world.
I picked this topic because I have always enjoyed being in the kitchen with my mom learning about new things and how they need to be cooked. Cooking to me is just like a stress reliever also when you get done cooking you can enjoy the delicious batch of cookies or whatever you have just made. There are several foods that I enjoy cooking, like parmesan potatoes, lasagna, homemade pizza, deserts, etc.
Food is always something I will always enjoy to cook or prepare for my family one day. Eating out all the time becomes very costly and when you can cook and get things off your head, why would you want to go sit in a restaurant where it can be extremely loud. Also eating out all the time and ordering greasy food could lead to heart problems or unhealthy benefits. I know if my family is at one of my basketball games that are usually kinda far away from home we will normally grab something to eat at a restaurant, just so we don’t have to eat when we get home when it’s going to be really late.
The ingredients you would need to make your lasagna is hamburger, noodles (homemade or noodles you don’t have to cook from the store) sauce, and cheese. You can also choose whether or not you would like cottage cheese in it. So after you have all the ingredients you will need to brown your hamburger. Once you have that done take your noodles and layer them in a pan. Then you will add your sauce to your hamburger. After you have done that you will place the hamburger on top of the noodles. Then just repeat those steps until you are out of everything including the noodles. You will then proceed to back your lasagna at 350 degrees for an hour.
Once your lasagna has cooked all the way you can add an cheese of your choice to the top of it, then place it back into the oven for the cheese to melt. After you have put it back into the oven take it out and let it sit for a couple of minutes so that it can cool off and it will be easier to cut for serving time. Depending on how big your cut it you should be able to feed your whole family with one pan.
The struggles of make a pan of lasagna are making sure it sits long enough before you cut into it. If your cut into anything hot before it has cooled off then it will more than likely look like you cooked it in water or something because it’s all just going to run down the pan. Also, another struggle would be making sure you cook it all the way. You might have noodles at the bottom of the pan that doesn’t need to be cooked before you place them there, but you need to make sure it’s all cooked together so that when you are ready to eat it’s all together. If you don’t pay attention to how you are making it something could go wrong when you take it out of the oven for it to set up before eating.
Improving your cooking would be working on something you are not very good at cooking. So like for me cooking hard things I normally have to have my mother help me because I either get confused what comes first or what comes after. To improve on making this lasagna I would make sure that the hamburger has enough taste to where you would be able to taste it in the food. Also, you would have to make sure that the noodles are not sticking to the bottom of the pan. So for instance if we got noodles we had to cook you would have to make sure that those noodles are not going to stick to the bottom of the pan while you are in the cooking process. Also making sure you have sides that can go with it instead of a random side that might not taste as good if you had it with it.
My family loves to eat home cooked food. We have anything from tacos to spaghetti or anything that would have protein in it that would be good for me since I play sports. I will say we are not the healthiest family out there, yes we do like cookies and other stuff but a lot of the time we do try to watch how much junk food intake we have. When eating unhealthy it can damage your liver because it can add deposition of fats in the liver. Although junk food can be very tasty and good you still have to watch the intake of junk food so something bad doesn’t happen to your liver as you live on in life.
