Funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and partner organisations, Chevening is a scholarship programme which operates in over 100 countries worldwide. The programme provides opportunities to exceptional individuals with leadership potential to study in the UK and bring back their experiences and knowledge to their home country. The programme funds full-time post-graduate study for one year at a UK university of the students’ choice. It covers a substantial monthly stipend, travel costs (return) to the UK, total academic fees, an arrival allowance and thesis grant.
Up to 30 scholarships will be made available to Malaysians for the 2014/15 intake, making Malaysia, once again, among the top five countries to award the largest number of Chevening scholarships in the world.
This is possible through the generosity of BAE Systems who will, again, be sponsoring awards in the fields of Engineering, Sciences and Cyber Security; the Prudence Foundation who will be sponsoring awards in the fields of Business & Islamic Finance and Media & Communications, and the Cambridge and Commonwealth Trust will be offering awards for study in the University of Cambridge.

The University of Edinburgh, University of Westminster, Cranfield University and Kings College will also be sponsoring awards for study at their respective institutions.

I have great pleasure in inviting Malaysians to apply for this year’s programme. ” Mohammad Shaharom Ahmad Ismail, recipient of the 2013/14 Chevening Scholarships who is studying MSc. in the Science of Occupational Health, Safety & Environment at the University of Birmingham said: “If you are looking for a journey full of colours and emotions, and heart-racing and jaw-dropping moments, then the Chevening Scholarship is for you. It opens up endless possibilities, gets you to places and, most importantly, helps you achieve your dreams.
The Chevening programme began in 1983 and has developed into a prestigious international scheme. Over 700 scholarships will be awarded in the 2014/15 intake to scholars from more than 100 countries worldwide.
There are over 41,000 Chevening alumni around the world who together comprise an influential and highly regarded global network. There is no age limit for Chevening Scholars. Candidates for the 2014/15 intake are invited to apply for study in the following fields: Climate Change, Sustainable Development, Human Rights, Foreign & Security Policy, Science and Engineering, Cyber Security, Good Governance, Business & Islamic Finance and Media & Communications.
