Several people spend their whole lives living in only one place. Others move many times throughout their lives. But I had to move a lot throughout the years but never to my old place. Being Puerto Rican and moving back to Puerto Rico it's not as easy as it sounds. Many people think that moving back to the place you were born and half raised is good. In my case, It was one of the hardest decisions I ever made.
This may sound confusing at first but moving again when you finally settled down and had everything you ever wanted may be a big impact on your life. I had to leave everything behind, start from scratch, and work more on myself.
As soon as I found out that I was moving to Puerto Rico I instantly went into shock mode. I found out two weeks before moving.
I didn't know what to do or how to feel. Every day I asked myself what should I do? Should I stay or should I leave? Especially since I had to leave everything behind; friends, family, my job, and everything I worked so hard for. My job was probably the hardest thing to let go of. Not because of the money but because of how free I felt every time I worked. All my friends worked in the same spot, which made it ten times better to worked and enjoy life a little more.
So I knew that I soon as a moved to Puerto Rico everything was going to change.
After I moved, I had to start from scratch. So at that point, I had to accept reality and think about all the benefits of moving. It was my chance to start over, change my daily routine and step out of my comfort zone to meet new people. Not gonna lie at first it was very difficult trying to fit in. Especially in the new school where everything was so different. Eventually, I started to like it more and more every day.
Sometimes moving and change can be hard, but challenging times often allow us to grow as people. I was forced to get out of my comfort zone. See different points of view, expand my knowledge of the world and be more open-minded about the situation. Also, most importantly it helped me become stronger, more resilient and it made me learned new things about myself.
A Few months later, I graduated high school and decided to go back to Florida. With made me realize that no matter what happens in life everything happens for a reason. At first, I was stressed, worried, and unhappy about the situation I was going thru. Not knowing if moving was going to change my life for good or for bad. But at the end of the day, it helps me become a better person.
