The way so many countries value money and power over people and peace is disgusting and saddening. We live in a world where we will cross all sorts of red lines just to make money. You have politicians being bribed and leaders who will gladly sign off on war agendas just so they can afford their vacation in the Bahamas and their luxury cars, without taking a second to think about all the conflict that’s bound to happen.

And the worst part is that so many people are unaware of all the shady stuff happening on a DAILY basis. All of the damage done to our environment and all of the human lives that were taken away is irreversible. Documentaries like “Shadow World” and “Park Avenue: Money, Power, and the American Dream” are eye opening.

Watching “Shadow World” taught me so many things I wasn’t aware of. Countries like the United States and the United Kingdom have been funding war in the Middle East for YEARS. The United States has also been funding covert actions throughout Central Latin America, where the CIA has been assassinating populist leaders and backing up right-wing military juntas, and arming death squads like the Contras in Nicaragua to overthrow their democratically elected government.

The Iran-Contra affair was a huge political scandal in the 80’s, in which the National Security Council was involved in secret weapon transactions that was prohibited by the US Congress. Administration officials secretly facilitated the illegal sale of arms to Iran in order to free 7 American hostages held in Lebanon by Iranian terrorists, and in hopes of being able to fund the Contras. The United States facilitated this arms deal with Iran because they believed that the changes to these countries that occurred in the late 70’s threatened U.S. national Interests.

BAE Systems is a British multinational defence, security and aerospace companies. They are the UK’s largest armament producers. For decades, they have refused to accept any wrong doing, despite a huge amount of evidence of alleged bribes. For years, they have been accused of selling arms to dictatorial regimes, polluting the environment.
