Trust is important because it's the basis around which all human relationships revolve. Without trust, there can be no relationship. There are different types of trust for instance when someone is there for you like, your friend or your sister you usually naturally trust them. It's alarming to think about how we trust people who are affectionate and compassionate towards us. Tell Tale Heart by Edgar Allan Poe shows us this in a story with the use of his characters.

The readers were introduced to two main characters known as the old man and the narrator. The old man did not have any known enemies, he felt secure and trusted he was safe until he encountered the narrator in his room. When I think of human nature I think of a dainty line it separates good and bad the how and why a person's character reaches his breaking point.

The Tell-Tale Heart illustrates how obsession can turn into madness and lead to a demolition of its victim and others. The author shows us this from the narrator's point of view, repetition, and the narrator the narrator's motive to murder the old man. The narrator's point of view. Edgar Allen Poe uses the first point of view to establish the main idea of madness. When the old man encountered the narrator in his room, the readers could tell the old man was frightened and alarmed.

You could tell that he was confused. “I knew what the old man felt and pitied him although I chuckled at heart.” This relates to the central idea of madness because only a mad person would chuckle at someone's fear before they murder/kill them. Also, some more examples that support the idea of madness is when the narrator waited every night for the old man's eye to open. “And best I did for seven long nights every night just at midnight but I found the eye closed.” The stalking started happening when the narrator got angry at the eye and he hears things too. I believe that the narrator hears voices because he said “ I heard all things in the heaven and in the Earth. I heard many things in hell”. Finally, the narrator was questioning why the readers think he is mad and trying to convince them that he isn't mad. “ The disease had sharpened my senses, not destroyed, not dulled them.” This helps develop up the main idea of madness because no one knows what disease he was talking about, and the narrator's trying to convince the person he's talking too that he isn't mad, but they haven't even said he was yet. The point of view was used a lot to show that the narrator/ the main character is insane/mad. Poe uses repetition to show that the main character was astonished that the eye was open.” After many long nights of sneaking into the old man's room but It was finally open. It was open, wide, wide open, and I grew furious as I gazed upon it.”

The repetition helps to show that the narrator was very surprised that it was open because it hadn't been open any other night. This also relates to Madness because the narrator grew furious when he saw the eye and normally people wouldn't grow angry/furious about an eye. Repetition helps develop the idea of madness /obsession because it emphasis and adds drama to the narrator's actions. For example when he said the old man was dead. “The old man was dead. I removed the bed and examined the corpse. Yes, he was stone, stone dead. I placed my hand upon the heart and held it there many minutes. There was no pulsation. He was stone dead.” Also, when the narrator said how loud the man's heart was. “I say, there came to my ears a low, dull, quick sound.I knew the sound to well,too.It was the beating of the old man's heart.”
