Sport in today's world has an endless variety of purpose to inspire, motivate, transcend and engage. The definition of sport is An activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment (Oxford Dictionary 2019). Sport is kind of a physical exercise in which we compete with the opponent(s) solely for the purpose of enjoyment and entertainment. Sport is a valuable way of exercising and keeping fitness levels up to maintain a healthy balanced lifestyle in kids, teenagers and adults but is also brilliant for social aspects that we need in our daily lives.
Playing sports can make you a lot stronger and healthier, contributing to lower obesity rates than people that do not engage in playing any sports. Sports also play a major important role of imparting character values at a young age as playing sports can help teach honesty, teamwork and fair play, it also contributes to learning to follow the rules and respecting teammates while also learning how to deal with winning and losing.Sport has a major impact on young children because sports requires physical exercise, which results in better blood circulation and an overall improved physical stamina that leads to stronger bones and a healthy body.
It opens up one's nerves and makes the body more flexible, agile and responsive. Despite all the physical advantages, participating in a sport also works to a major advantage for your brain and overall personality.Sport should be introduced at a young age as children have to be active every day and is also a great way of keeping children out of mischief and off troublesome streets that could lead to future misbehaviours.
Physical activity stimulates growth and leads to improved physical and emotional health. Today, research shows that the importance of physical activity in children is currently stronger than ever. For example, medical researchers have observed that highly active children are less likely to suffer from high blood pressure, diabetes, cancer of the colon, obesity, and coronary heart disease later in their lives. Exercise is also a well-known factor to relieve stress. Some children experience as much stress, depression, and anxiety as adults, for example, children may fear of not making friends or not fitting in to a peer group, one way children gain acceptance by their peers is to be good at activities valued by the other children. And because exercise improves health, a fit child is more likely to be well-rested and mentally sharp in school and throughout everyday life. Even the slightest bit of physical activity has been shown to improve the child's skills of memorization, mathematics and helping with reading abilities. Because sport is so important to children, being good at the particular sport is also a very strong social asset. Young boys in particular use sports such as GAA or Hurling as an example to measure themselves against their friends. Children who are competent at sports tend to be more easily accepted by children of their own age and are more likely to be team captains and group leaders. These children usually have better social skills. The main focus and goal of parents and gaurdians is to help children find the success in sport they need to make them feel wanted and where they feel appreciated and valued. Every child can be successful at one sport or another, it just may take time to find the particular sport they desire and learn to love.Sport prevents a numerous amount of health problems and provides a massive influence on our health throughout our day to day lives. We tend to wonder what actually happens in our bodies when we participate in regular sporting activities, the answer is while our bodies are exercising we make work our muscles, joints, bones and ligaments into a certain degree of a stress mode, which results in the adaptation to such an intense workout. It makes our muscles grow stronger, adjusts the nerve system within us to more function more effectively and to help us perform more difficult tasks, than we completed before. (Azseo,2014)Physical inactivity is a very possible risk factor for diseases such cardiovascular disease and a wide variety of other chronic diseases including diabetes mellitus, cancer (colon and breast), obesity, hypertension, bone and joint diseases (osteoporosis and osteoarthritis), and depression (E.R. Warburton.D, Whitney Nicol.C , S.D. Bredin .S 2006). Another major risk factor of health within a variety of sports is the usage of drugs where athletes are majorly putting their careers at risk just in order to obtain higher and stronger levels of stamina for the athlete, drugs cause a major impact on the athletes health which can cause major intrusions within the body resulting to sickness or even possible fatal results. In some aspects, the attitudes society has towards drug use appears curiously ambivalent even though most people would strongly object both the use of performance-enhancing drugs in sport and drug abuse' within today's society, it is almost certain that in modern Western societies, we have come to be more dependent on the use of prescribed drugs than at any previous time in history. (Waddington.I & Smith.A 2009)The misuse of drugs within sport is not even close to being new phenomenon in society in today's world. It has occurred for centuries but adequate documentation has only been available for the last 50 years. (A. H. Beckett and D. A. Cowan 1978) For years, the domain of sports was belonged to men. Considering there is so much to be learned throughout sports, it is highly unfair to just reserve that opportunity only for males. The participation in sports for girls should instantly increase their confidence, taking risks, and their ability within competitive competitions. Girls that have less experience in sports, compared to boys, may underlie some of the career problems women cope with in business, industries, science or where the rules of team sports often prevail.
