When I still lived in Nigeria, it was quite common to hear about people traveling to the United States for better facilities and doctors. Sadly, the inhabitants of this country don’t enjoy the top-notch healthcare system because of how ridiculously expensive it is. A lot of people fall into personal bankruptcy due to the health-related costs that they owe.

Having insurance coverage doesn’t even shield you from the possibility of having healthcare-related debts. As a result, people take extreme measures to cut back on costs. It’s been discovered that people are purchasing less medication than they’ve been prescribed, all to save money. This solution is only procuring more problems for the future as cutting back on prescriptions would trigger more health-related problems in the future.

My solution to the ever-increasing healthcare costs would be to reduce the cost of medical technology.

How? You see, doctors are the decision-makers for medical technology product purchases and it is a known fact that most doctors cannot make wise financial decisions for their hospitals. I plan to guide them in their decision-making process.
I’ll start by reaching out to the financial consultants of prominent medical technology companies, negotiating with them, and then convincing them to provide top-notch services at a reduced cost using my financial expertise. After we agree on a reasonable price, I’ll introduce them to medical institutions. I’ll also extend my financial expertise to them by offering suggestions on what cutbacks they could make, to invent cheaper ways to deliver the same services. I’ll be like the liaison officer between the medical technology companies and the medical institutions. This would result in the production of cost-effective tools that would enhance clinical outcomes and elevate the quality of healthcare provided in America. In conclusion, if the cost of healthcare technology is reduced, the overall cost of healthcare in the U.S would decrease. This also means health insurance premiums would decrease making it more affordable for all. Not only do I get the opportunity to pursue a career in a field that I find enthralling and help my community, but I also get to positively impact the country by curbing the one issue that almost everyone struggles with.
