Why Did Odysseus Leave Home?

Odysseus left home to fight in the Trojan War. In Homer's epic poem "The Odyssey," Odysseus is the king of Ithaca, but he is called to join the Greeks in their war against the Trojans. He spends ten years fighting in the war and another ten years trying to return home, during which he faces numerous obstacles and challenges.
