In part 2 of The Odyssey, there are several passages that establish Odysseus's weaknesses. One of the most notable is when Odysseus reveals his true identity to the Cyclops, Polyphemus, after he and his men have already blinded him. Odysseus taunts Polyphemus by telling him his real name and where he is from, which ultimately leads to more danger for Odysseus and his crew. This passage establishes Odysseus's weakness in his pride and overconfidence, which often leads him into trouble throughout the story.
