Have you ever heard people ask, “Do you have an artistic personality?” Let’s focus on these two words, ‘artistic’ and ‘personality’. We often combine art and psychology in day-day day-to-day realizingsimilarrealizing similar last day-day life without realizing it. I plan to pursue Fine Arts in the future and be a fine artist. When I go to art galleries and observe paintings, I try to analyze and understand the choice of color palette or the forms. What I am doing is trying to understand the artist’s perspective.

Here, I am interpreting art through psychological understandings. Studies How I can use this The study focuses on the Japanese history of fine arts psychology. There was research conducted by Kiyoshi Miyajima on children’s art. Until the 1910’s children copied works from pictures of other artworks, an education technique called “Ringa”.

However, an art teacher named Kanae Yamamoto expressed disapproval towards this method of art education and thenceforth came up with a social movement called the “Free Drawing Movement”.

Freud claimed that children’s artwork should be used as a medium to analyze their psychological problems or understand any suppressed emotions. The study was further considered by artists and novelists. There were multiple studies conducted on writing behavior. The Calligraphy Research was directed by Mantaro Kido. In his first book on this research “Calligraphy and viewing calligraphy,” Kido focuses on the relevance of psychology to calligraphy. Moreover, in his second section of the book, he analyses the writing behavior of different participants of varied occupations and the strength of different fonts and concluded that every respective participant portrayed varying impressions.

This study will be of real importance to me if I decide to pursue my career as an art teacher. Kids often face bullying or have other emotional problems that they are not able to tackle because they are not very expressive with their words. Analyzing their artworks or their handwriting can be a strong option at that point. In my art classes, we often spend a lot of our time analyzing other famous artworks. Pablo Picasso once said, “It took me years to paint like a child”, and I wonder why. I have always wanted to understand why painting like a kid is so difficult. I can apply this study in my career by analyzing various arts, famous paintings, and children’s doodles and looking for details of different impressions in their works.

This study was conducted by Djikic, Oatley, Zoeterman, and Peterson. 166 people were randomly picked to read either the non-fiction version of “The Lady with the little dog” or the actual version by Chekhov. This experiment was designed in a way that all the factors were kept constant; same information, same reading difficulty, and the same length. And when the participants were asked what they thought of these two versions of the book, they said that they found the nonfiction version to be just as interesting but not artistic. Then, the participants were given a Big Five Personality Trait (Extraversion, Emotional Stability, Openness to Experience, Conscientiousness, Agreeableness) test after and before they had read the short story and they were also asked on a scale of 1 to 10 what they were feeling, emotionally. And it was seen that there was a small change in the personality of people who read Chekhov’s short stories. These changes were all of the different traits. Each participant had shown different changes, and the amount by which they had changed was judged by the emotions they portrayed by reading that book. This study is indirectly related to my career. I am curious to know if people would react similarly as they did in this study if a book is replaced with a similar last the; or if physical art can have the same impact as reading artistic information in a book. I have always enjoyed creating artworks that stimulate unexpected imaginations or leave a message in my work as a cliffhanger that makes you think harder. I believe a book and an intriguing artwork can both bring a similar level of interest, and curiosity and stir up emotions.
