Philosophy Of Nursing: Values And Beliefs

My personal values as a nursing student and individual are being dependable, loyalty and knowledgeable, these values are important to me for completing nursing school and being the best self-possible for people and one day my patients, but I ask myself How do I determine which values are good and which are bad. It sounds simple, but in a society where people believe they reserve the right to their own perspective, which is their very right and I'm not against it either.

However, if not constantly conscious it can be a barrier to allowing new information in and to reflect on their own values and core beliefs as to whether they are building a good life for themselves but also for other people.

Professional values and beliefs nursing are dependability, responsibility and possessing a positive attitude. I believe these qualities are always need in a professional setting. Being able to keep a positive attitude in the hardest times aren’t easy but it doable because as a Nurse you never want a patient to see you lose your cool in a work setting, it’s a hard job and we must keep a happy attitude at all times.

Now being responsible and dependable are also needed in a professional setting, these values are mostly in everyone choice of work values. Being dependable and responsible are the values any job is looking and that you are responsible for keeping up with projects and keeping them informed of the things that they should know about.

Alignment of values to me is when I can align myself with the values, I have set for myself as well as a workplace/school setting. My personal values are dependable, loyalty and knowledgeable and my professional values are Dependability, Responsibility and possessing a positive attitude. These values align with one another because we can use these values in any settings to get any job done at any moment. The only way to live a very successful life is to have values and goals. When these are key drivers in all decisions and organization will be able to deliver its values and you can keep working on your values.

Nursing is not an easy profession, but nothing in life worth having is. I appreciate challenges, as I know it helps me grow. I have a passion for helping others, and don’t feel fulfilled in a job if the position is not doing just that, helping others. Becoming a nurse is a dream of mine, and I am willing to keep striving to learn to one day become an empathetic, caring, compassionate, and hard-working nurse in the health care field.
