From Childhood Dreams to Creative Pursuits: My Artistic Journey

When I was a kid, I loved to create characters and stories, especially with my stuffed animals. My siblings would often hide around the corner and listen to me talk out the story, and though it was embarrassing back then, I find it funny now. I come from a large family that has always had a big interest in the arts. My mom always encouraged us to play instruments, especially the piano, which she plays herself. My dad is an amazing realistic artist and sells his work as a side job, however, while many of my siblings are talented artists and musicians, few went into it professionally.

I’ve always loved being a part of projects. Around 2011-2012, my sister and I made a short animation we dubbed “Storm”. I drew the frames with a mouse in the original MS Paint and she edited in stock sounds and our voices in Movie Maker. It wasn’t incredible by my standards today, but it was a fun project nonetheless! It was the first completed animation I ever made and spawned my interest in creating more.

In 2013 I got my first drawing tablet and enjoyed it so much that from then on, digital became my main art form.
Working with other people is an enlightening experience, so I have been a part of OVA ever since I knew it existed. Competing in the Olympics of the Visual Arts was an incredible experience in working with others and making something that you’re truly proud of.

The same goes for the other people in Drama Club. Beforehand, I didn't have a lot of experience working with people who cared about the same things I did, but the people in OVA and Drama Club gave me that, and it was amazing. I'm dedicated to getting from an idea to a finished project and have worked hard since I knew that I would be an artist. I work well with others who are just as focused and can compromise if any of us disagree.
Above all, I just want to create something. Since I was a child I loved making things that I could proudly show to my family. Having something I can look back on and be proud of is an exhilarating feeling. I am always working on personal projects, trying to better my ability and make the best result I can. My skills have grown tremendously from when I first realized my passion, and how far I've come has made me overjoyed. I’m so thankful that I have the supportive family I do, and that they encourage me to keep creating the things I love. Going to college will give me a greater opportunity to learn from the best, and help me to get my foot into the industry. I want to work hard and to have hands-on experience.
