Yoshiko Uchida is a Japanese-American writer who is known for her children’s books and young adult novels. She was born in San Francisco, California, in 1921, and her family was sent to an internment camp in Utah during World War II. After the war, she attended the University of California, Berkeley, and then worked as a librarian. She began writing children’s books in the 1950s, and her first book, Journey to Topaz, was published in 1971. She has won several awards for her writing, including the American Book Award and the Boston Globe-Horn Book Award.
Yoshiko Uchida is an amazing author who writes from the heart. Her stories are full of emotion and really make you think about the human experience. She has a way of making you feel like you are right there in the story with her characters. I would recommend her to anyone looking for a good read.
