In Mother to Mother, Sindiwe Magona tells the story of her mother’s life, from her childhood in South Africa to her death at the age of 97. Magona paints a picture of a strong, hardworking woman who was deeply devoted to her family and her community. Her mother was also a survivor of the brutal system of apartheid, which oppressed black South Africans for decades. Despite the many challenges she faced, Magona’s mother was a fighter who never gave up. In the end, she was able to see her children and grandchildren grow up in a free and democratic South Africa.
