Mawi Asgedom is an Ethiopian-American author, speaker, and educator. He is the author of the best-selling book, Of Beetles and Angels: A Boy’s Remarkable Journey from a Refugee Camp to Harvard. Asgedom was born in 1981 in a refugee camp in Sudan and immigrated to the United States with his family in 1987. He is a graduate of Harvard University and the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. Asgedom is the founder of the Mawi Learning Center, a non-profit organization that provides educational opportunities to underserved youth in the Boston area.
