This book is a collection of essays written by French author and journalist, Georges Bernanos. The essays are divided into three sections, each containing Bernanos’ thoughts on a variety of topics including religion, politics, and society. The first section, entitled “On God and His Creatures”, contains Bernanos’ thoughts on topics such as the existence of God, the nature of evil, and the role of religion in society. The second section, “On Men and Their Duties”, contains Bernanos’ thoughts on topics such as the importance of work, the role of the family, and the relationship between the individual and the state. The third and final section, “On Society and Its Ills”, contains Bernanos’ thoughts on topics such as the problems of democracy, the danger of socialism, and the need for reform in the Catholic Church.
