The researcher predicts that students that play video games for reasonable hours after finishing their important work have the potential to achieve higher grades, that would be according to those around him.

According to Timo Gnambs, professor of psychology at Austria’s Johannes Kepler University Linz, he found out that “playing on school nights for lengthy amounts of time could have a small “negative impact” on grades, even heavy sessions of up to 8 hours a day did not appear to matter in terms of long-term achievement.”

According to, a small study was made in which 64 kids who live in the US, who didn’t own a video game system, where chosen. The kids where randomly put into 2 conditions, either they were given a new gaming system immediately, this group was called “video games now”. The second group of kids were not given a gaming system until the study was completed, they were called “video games later”. The kids in the “video games now” showed less academic performance than the kids in the “video game later” group.

In addition, the same website referred to another, larger, study that involved 3100 students in support of the previous study. The difference between the two studies is that in the second one, video games were “linked with higher academic achievement.”

The same website referenced a research that happened because other studies hinted that the kind of gameplay played affected the students. The research used an exam the researcher is familiar with called the PISA exam. The research focused on the “reading” area of the exam, the researchers examined results of over 190,000 teens and “found evidence of a small negative effect”, but only on the students who played mainly multiplayer games.

The website referenced one last survey, the survey asked the parents of 70 school kids between the ages 6 and 10 years old. The survey was made by Erin Hastings, Erin and her team asked the parents about their kids’ usage of video games and academic performance. The survey revealed that time spent on violent video games was what caused some students to suffer academically.

A website mentioned more than 25 benefits (positives and negatives) of video games, some of them include: According to a study by the University of Rochester, video games “train the player’s brain to make faster decisions without losing accuracy.”, in addition, another research in the University of Rochester, led by a cognitive scientist named Daphne Bavelier, concluded that “playing action video games primes the brain to make quick decisions. Video games can be used to train soldiers and surgeons.” And “decisions made be action-packed video game players are no less accurate.” Finally, “Action game players make more correct decisions per unit time.”

The same website also mentions that James Paul Gee, professor of education at the University of Wisconsin – Madison, says that video games help with inductive reasoning and hypothesis testing. James came with this conclusion because according to him “playing a video game is similar to working through a science problem Like a student in a laboratory, the gamer must come up with a hypothesis. For example, the gamer must constantly try out combinations of weapons and powers to use to defeat an enemy. If one does not work, he changes hypothesis and try the next one. Video games are goal-driven experiences.”

According to : “A growing body evidence, however, shows that video games can affect the brain and, furthermore, cause changes in many regions of the brain.” According to Nichols, scientists collected and summarized results that came from 116 scientific studies, they used the information they gathered the information to determine the way video games can influence the human’s brain and behaviours.” In addition: “A total of 22 of the explored studies explored structural changes in the brain and 100 studies analysed changes in the brain functionality and behaviour.” The results also showed that “Playing video games not only changed how our brains perform but also their structure. For example, video games use is known to affect attention. The studies included in the review show that video game players display improvements in several types of attention, including sustained attention and selective attention. Furthermore, the regions of the brain that play a role in attention are more efficient in gamers compared with non-gamers, and they require less activation to stay focused on demanding tasks.” Also: “Evidence also demonstrates that playing video games increases the size and competence of parts of the brain responsible for visuospatial skills - a person's ability to identify visual and spatial relationships among objects. In long-term gamers and individuals who had volunteered to follow a video game training plan, the right hippocampus was enlarged.” The research also showed that video games can be addictive, also known as “internet gaming disorder”. The researcher gathered more information from that include
