Day By The Sea: Description Of The Beach Nearby My Home

Categories: BeachSea

Have you been to a nearby beach recently? No? I will Then I will describe it to you. The sand was a soft golden shade that had the perfect comforting warmth. Laying on the beach felt like a welcoming and cosy hug, matched by the sun that filled the sky with beautiful colours. I stretched out both arms and legs to look like a starfish, my grin expanded steadily into a broad smile. Providentially the sky was clear, as a result, I could see the sun and this gave me a marker of the time that I wouldn’t have had otherwise.

The beach was like a herd of parasols, with hot colours to match the boiling sand beneath. Alike the lapping of the waves was the laughter, coming in small barrages. The sand was like a microwave, slowly warming you up just the perfect amount.

With readily browning legs curled under, scattered with sand like flour on bread, I cautiously approached the lapping waves.

It was cool but refreshing, like a glass of water with ice. Steadily I dipped my fingers in the water. A tingling sensation trickled down my fingers. Out of nowhere came a wave that encroached on my elbow unexpectedly. I retire back to the dry sand where I decided to sit, scooping the sand that ran through my fingers as if sieving it onto the scorching beach below. With each handful I rotated my body as if dancing in a chair, gazing at the falling sand.

Below it rises a deformed castle, a sandcastle that looks for all the world like a melted candle.

I loved the driftwood that arrived while surfing on the buoyant waves. Then there was also seaweed, as intensely green as any vegetable in the supermarket. My favourite though, of everything, was right there on the perfect concave and convex shapes of the rolling dunes were the tall, tall grass that whispers so sweetly into the gentle sea breeze. The cool but refreshing water lapped at my feet, eventually foaming up like a dog's mouth. Although the sun was beating down on my back, I couldn’t help but smile as the wind caressed my face. The beach raced beside the water like two drag racers up until the horizon.

I whispered into the oncoming calm breeze, my eyelids shut close as soon as I breathed in the briny aroma. Curling up my toes, I felt the smooth but damp sand from the previous high tide that had recently retreated. I stretched as a shiver cascaded down my spine and my eyes shot open. The forever stretching ocean was masked with a coral colour, the beautiful tone later flowed into turquoise. Through narrowed eyes I gazed at each minuscule lapping wave, sending the slightly foamy crests descending.

Waves ahead roar and roll down, crashing onto the shore with a soft hiss; peeling away at the gold-bronze sand beneath my feet. Without hesitation, I plunge into the green water, my board pressed up against my chest. A chill surges through me, but a small wave washes it away. I paddle further and further, spinning my board around as a wave comes tumbling towards me. And before I know it, I'm above the wave, soaring like an eagle, the wind propelling me forward.

On this primrose sand, the hue is as soft on the eye as a vintage photograph, and there is a steady warmth from the grains. Already the stars glow as if they have kept a pocket of the daytime to shine all through the night sky. Brilliance is forever promised at dawn. Until then, here I remain, breathing deeply of the ocean carried air, listening to the percussion of waves.

The rain gives itself to the ocean, each fragment becoming a part of the body of brine, of the waves and sea lace. I hear each watery gift, softer than the patter on a rooftop, moving in subtle waves of its own according to the wind. Upon the sand, the rain is almost silent.

The wind had become the orchestral conductor of the sea, sending waves into their crescendos' all through the ballad that was the night. All about us was the perfume of the salty water and the fine spray that came as boldly as any viola flurry. It was as if life herself had entered the water and the energy was so great that this great pulse came upward to form a steady rhythm.
