Web Intelligence (WI) exploits the combination of artificial intelligence (AI) and information technology (IT) to design and develop the intelligent systems, services, and frameworks that work by the World Wide Web (WWW) and internet.

The web has availability and accessibility of information that target each audience of it. So, Web Intelligence (WI) is important to deal with the requests from the users when the user searches for the information, the WI will construct a meaningful reply for the searched information by using information retrieval techniques.

BackgroundWeb Intelligence (WI) is "a new direction for scientific research and development that explores the fundamental roles as well as practical impacts of artificial intelligence (AI) and advanced information technology (IT) on the next generation of web-empowered products, systems, services, and activities" [1].

Web Intelligence (WI) is the combination of the interaction of the human mind and artificial intelligence with the networks and technology. Web Intelligence (WI) investigated the new role that the World Wide Web (WWW) will play in the future which is the practical impact on the users for the new and upcoming generation of web empowered products, systems, services, and activities.

The future of WI is very critical because the web will understand the user by a single keyword that the user searched for and the web will construct a meaningful reply for the searched word by Artificial Intelligence (AI) and information retrieval techniques.

Web Intelligence Techniques

Web Intelligence (WI) has 8 techniques that support web functions such as information retrieval, multimedia retrieval, find the related source, etc.

.. the techniques are Ubiquitous Computing and Social Intelligence (UCSI), Intelligent Human Web Interaction (IHWI), Web Information Management (WIM), Web Agents (WA), Web Information Retrieval (WIR), Web Mining and Farming (WMF), Emerging Web Technology (EWT), and Knowledge Networks and Managements (KNM).

Web Intelligence TechniquesUbiquitous Computing and Social Intelligence (UCSI)Ubiquitous computing is a technique of information and communication technologies where can computing to work anytime and anywhere. Social intelligence is the ability to connect with others in an efficient and socially compatible way [2][3].

UCSI can support the internet of things which is connecting the devices with the internet such as telephones, wearable, etc... devices to provide certain services and activities.

Also, UCSI can support ubiquitous learning which is a new learning technique that let the student attend the class in his house. moreover, UCSI can support the ubiquitous web access which is the user can grant access to any websites. UCSI can support web security, integrity, and privacy of the information and prevent any attack from hackers.

Finally, UCSI can support wireless web intelligence which is the multimedia contents on the web are accessible not only from stationary platforms but also increasingly from mobile platforms. How web intelligence work with ubiquitous computing and social intelligence is supporting the multimedia contents to work on both mobile devices and desktoplaptop computers [2][3].

Knowledge Networks and Management (KNM)Knowledge Networks and Management supporting the digital (electronic) library by using the three techniques of web intelligence which are direct links, co-linked pages, and web server log file analysis/search queries to find a related source in the digital (electronic) library that the user searched for [2][4].

Also, KNM supporting the semantic web which is a data that are associated with each other that can easily be processed by machines and represents an effective means of data representation in the form of a globally linked database. The World Wide Web (WWW) use the KNM to handle the semantic web [2][5].

Emerging Web Technology (EWT)Emerging Web Technology is the technology used to develop a web page such as HTML, CSS, JS, PHP, Python, etc... Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) is the standard markup language for documents designed to be displayed in a web browser.

It can be assisted by technologies such as Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) which is a style sheet language used for describing the presentation of a document written in a markup language like HTML and scripting languages such as JavaScript (JS) which is a high-level, interpreted scripting language that performs the functions of a web page.

Web intelligence use HTML5 which is the latest and enhanced version of HTML because of HTML5 support the mobile platforms and multimedia contents. PHP is a scripting language used on Web servers.

Python is a high-level programming language designed to be easy to read and simple to implement. Python can be used to creating web applications and dynamic web content. And python can support the 2D and 3D images programs and enable users to create custom plugins and extensions [2][6].

Web Mining and Farming (WMF)Web Mining and Farming is the discovery and analysis of searched information on the web from the huge information resources available online.

Web intelligence used the semantic web to help to create new knowledge out of the information available on the web by using three techniques of web mining which are web content mining which is the extraction and integration of information from the web contents such as textual, image, audio, video, metadata and, hyperlinks, web structure mining which is to discover the patterns of links can be on the web and use a model to extract the useful information, and, web usage mining which is to extracts a useful information from the data collected from web servers [2][7].

Web Information Retrieval (WIR)Information Retrieval (IR) is "the process of searching within a document collection for a particular information need (called a query)". Web information retrieval is "the application of theories and methodologies from information retrieval to the World Wide Web (WWW)".

The web page is a unique document and can be characterized as huge size, dynamic, self-organized, duplicated, and hyperlinked. So, when the web intelligence use web information retrieval techniques, the retrieval can be faster and efficient. Web information retrieval techniques are Ad Hoc Retrieval, Known Item Search, Filtering, Homepage Finding, and Clustering [2][8].

Web Agents (WA)Web Agents (WA) is "a software component that controls access to any resource that can be identified by a URL".

Web intelligence uses web agents to prevent any access requests to protected resources and work on the policy server to determine if the user should have access to the resources or not, provide information to the web applications about how the content is presented to the user and how to gain access privileges, ensure that the user ability gain access to the information quickly and securely, and, enable singles to sign in across web servers by using a single cookie domain or multiple cookies domains without need to re-authenticate the user [2][9].

Web Information Management (WIM)Web Information Management (WIS) is an information system that uses web technologies to provide information and services to the users and other applications. WIS is consists of many applications such as specific functionality-oriented components, information components, and other non-web components.

Web intelligence used a web browser as frontend and WIS as backend. WIS can be considered as computerized database management in the web that provide efficient and flexible data, information, and, knowledge to the user [2][10][11].

Intelligent Human Web Interaction (IHWI)Intelligent Human Web Interaction (IHWI) is the processes that take place when the user interacts with an information system such as the WWW with the combination processes of Information Retrieval (IR) and navigation which is the sub-process of IR involving movement through a system to find a useful information [2][12].

ConclusionAt the end of the essay, many people don't know about how the web works because they only see the frontend of the browser and interact with it. The web has many techniques that work on the backend of the web to support the web functions such as information retrieval, multimedia retrieval, find the related source, etc...

The techniques are Ubiquitous Computing and Social Intelligence (UCSI), Intelligent Human Web Interaction (IHWI), Web Information Management (WIM), Web Agents (WA), Web Information Retrieval (WIR), Web Mining and Farming (WMF), Emerging Web Technology (EWT), and Knowledge Networks and Managements (KNM).
