Lizzy Mane: Embedded Assessment

Categories: Short Story

Lizzy Mane looked at the pencil in her hands and felt a sad feeling in her stomach. She walked over to the window and reflected on what she was feeling. She had always loved James, but there was someone new someone she also loved more than James. Then she saw someone in the distance but it wasnt that clear. It was the figure of James Neglicy. James was a coward with handsome looking hair and Lizzy was the love of his life.

Lizzy gulped. She glanced at her own reflection. She was a weird, funny, 27 year old with silky hair and a soul filled with darkness.

Her friends saw her as an annoying angel. Once, she had even saved a snotty old lady that was stuck in the sewers, but not even a weird person who had once saved a snotty old lady that was stuck in the sewers was prepared for what James had in store today.

The sun shone like a star, making it hard for Lizzy to see.

As Lizzy stepped outside and James came closer, she could see the dreamy look in his eyes.

James gazed at Lizzy Mane in a way he has never done before.

He said, in hushed tones, "I love you."

"Don't deny it I know you love me too."

As he leaned in for a kiss Lizzy looked back, feeling sorrowful and rubbing her arm in a nervous way.

"James, I love you, just not in that way" she replied, with tears rolling down her face.

They looked at each other with mixed feelings, like two people in love but not in love at the same time in a room locked up together feeling alone even though together.

Lizzy studied James's even though he wasn't crying out loud she knew he was crying a river inside.

Eventually, she took a deep breath. "I'm sorry," began Lizzy in apologetic tones, "but I don't feel the same way, and I never will. I just don't love you, James."

James looked hurt, his emotions raw like his heart had been ripped out and crushed right in front of him.

Lizzy could actually hear James's emotions shatter into 1076 pieces. Then the handsome coward hurried away into the distance, but it was Lizzy's handsome coward who had left, and it made her feel even worse

Lizzy Mane was thinking about James Neglicy again. James never forgave her even though she thought she did nothing wrong she just loved someone else for christ sake.

Lizzy walked over to her wedding dress and thought about how she would probably never see James again. She had always thought Philadelphia with its beautiful look that It would be the perfect place to get married.

Then she heard a knock from downstairs. Lizzy went to the door and guess who was there· JAMES!!

When she saw him she couldn't speak her mouth was dry lungs working slower than usual she was SURPRISED.

Lizzy said, in a concerning way, "What are you doing here?"

"I-I-I thought you hated me after well you know."

The rain wasn't making anything better in this situation making Lizzy wet. Lizzy grabbed a towel for her and James that had been strewn nearby.

As James stepped inside he came closer, she pushed him away She said, "JAMES! I am getting married you can't just show up like this and throw yourself on me!"

"I thought you loved me why can't you just let go just this once?"

Lizzy looked back, feeling something she didn't know what was "James, I love you, but you must stop," she said in a stern way.

They looked at each other feeling nothingness. Lizzy couldn't handle anymore she asked James to leave. He didn't even say anything she just knew what he was thinking and feeling and saying in his mind. Then James -for real this time- was gone into the world never to be seen by Lizzy again.

Lizzy got married and lived a good life with 2 kids. James got married too he didn't have kids and when he died his last words were "I love you, Lizzy Mane."
