Many Christians especially the youth are being absorbed into different workforces. It has been noted that some of the industries and organizations owned by non-Christian exploit the Christians. In Asian countries, some Christians are required to work even on Sundays which should be a day for worship (Goodchild). Since the job is necessary for these Christians as a source of livelihood, there are forced to forego church. This is one way that globalization has affected Christianity.

Growth of consumerism

Since Christians are among the people who have benefited from jobs that are highly paying, their consumerism trends have changed. There are many products and activities that are prohibited by Christianity. However, with money, some Christians who do not uphold the religious discipline may buy such products and engage in prohibited activities since they have money. Money shapes the consumerism behavior of Christians as well as of other individuals (Goodchild). It is agreeable that when we have everything at our disposure, we become more prone to failure. The rise of wealth Christians has therefore compromised the Christianity discipline and dignity.

Irresponsible media

Globalization has brought forth several unacceptable trends by Christianity. Media on the other hand has placed more priority on making profits rather than upholding societal morals (Goodchild). Media has played a major role in globalization and at the same time compromised the virtue taught through Christianity. It is sad that the media airs a series of programs and movies that support moral degradation in the society rather than restoring the society. Media airs unrated content that do not have an impact on the life of a Christian and further communicates the strife in many communities rather than providing solutions. This content can be misleading for young Christians and leads to overall infiltration of Christianity virtues.

Growth of fundamentalism

Globalization has resulted to the growth of fundamentalism. Other religions feel that they Christianity should not dominate over their world hence; they plan malicious activities in a move humiliate Christians and gain credit to themselves. (Goodchild) This has brought about tension, fear, terror and suspicion in different part of the world. Some religions want to dominate the workforce brought forth by globalization at the expense of other religions.

Distractive technologies

Globalization has led to the development of technologies that are distractive to Christians as well as practices that are not acceptable in Christianity (Goodchild). The internet for example has been helpful and at the same time destructive to Christianity. The internet is full of distractive and manipulative platforms. Young Christian and sometimes adults fall victim of these distractions such as pornography which compromises the virtues and values taught.

Advantages and opportunities presented to Christianity by Globalization

While there may be several challenges and negative affliction to Christianity, globalization has presented a noteworthy opportunity and benefit to Christianity. This is the ability to access Christian teachings virtually. Through the internet, Christians are able to come together and share common interests and goals. Globalization has made the world a communal meeting place where Christian can reach out to one another easily either through the internet or by flight. The extensive communication and networking has made it easier for Christianity to broadcast the gospel across the world effectively than before.
