They also encourage scientific knowledge and allow independent work and focuses on solving problems in their own way. Social occupations have to deal with communicating with and teaching people and you find yourself helping others (Pediatrician).

The top 5 skills I thought were consistent between Journey and ONET were the active listening/ giving full attention to what other people were saying, the ability to speak clearly in a way others around you can understand, having the skills to make effective decisions, and the science aspect of being able to problem solve using scientific methods.

There a lot of things that you should have a good apprehension in when entering this field. Of course, you should have your stable background in science so in medicine and the biology of the human body and things around us, and also background in psychology and therapy (Pediatrician). This is only a few of many. Values that correlated with both Journey and ONET environment with others, and recognition, being acknowledged or validated .

A pediatric nurse is very similar to a pediatric doctor they are just registered nurses instead of medical doctors and still work very closely to the doctors. They are two good jobs to compare because if you want the experience of working with children in this kind of setting but don’t want to be in school for as long as doctors do this could be a good alternative. Both pediatric doctors and nurses specialize in devoting their knowledge and skills to caring for children from infancy through the late teen years and their families. They are both able to work in clinics, hospitals and private practices. Both doctors and nurses are both supposed to be able to communicate clearly to patients and families for them to get a better grasp of the things going on (Nurse Guide).

Pediatric doctors require more schooling and they differ in what type of test has to be passed in order to practice, so essentially the doctor is directing and the nurse administrates. Pediatric nurses make less than the doctors, their average salary being 52,000$ to 88,000$, pediatric doctors averting 101,000$ to 180,000$ a year (Nurse Guide).

My biggest connection while researching this career was the work value of achievement and accomplishment, which was one of my top values in my work reflection. I think when working with kids knowing that you went to work and got something done and possibly made a difference is something I can’t wait to look forward to. There are many positive aspects in this career like the ability to be someone children may look up to, the potential salary and the amount of knowledge I know I could obtain on the journey to becoming a pediatrician.

Somethings that may be a negative when I have a family would be the average work week for a pediatrician being 60 hours a week . Spending time with friends and family could be difficult. Another negative would not be the amount of schooling necessarily but the cost of all of the schooling that must be completed. Overall, I think the positives outweigh the negatives for me and I commend anyone who works in this field and hope to be apart of it one day.
