The Adaptations of the Barn Owl and the Snowy Owl

Categories: Owl

Their are so many animals on this planet called earth. Some are exactly the same or different in their own ways. What makes them different could depend on the environment they live in and what type of species there are. There's a lot of adaptations an animal could take. It falls between the line of behavioural, physiological and structural. The two animals im looking at today is the barn owl and the snowy owl both are avesor birds. Their both owls and their different what makes them different is they behavioural, physiological and structural adaptations.

First we gonna look at behavioural adaptations on both of the birds. The barn owl unusual hunts at night and have night vision to help see their prey in the night they will look for small insect or mice to eat then pick them up with their claws. The snowy animal Most owls sleep during the day and hunt at night, but the snowy owl is active during the day, especially in the summertime.

Their hearing is so acute that they can capture a mouse in total darkness. The barn owl unusual facial disc helps them locate their prey. It captures and focuses sound into its ears which are positioned, one slightly above the other, next to the eyes. The snowy animal had white plumage for camouflage, fully feathered feet, serrated wing feathers, sharp talons and beaks all enable it to survive temperatures that can fall far below zero and long winter night. They both have special adaptations to help them.

Third we gonna talk about structural. The bawn owls' feathers are very soft another adaptation for quiet flight; The flight feathers are covered in a thin hair-like structure that traps air within the feather surface. This makes them so their prey wont hear them coming. The snowy owl has the same but their feathers are white and it let their prey not hear them when their coming. Both owls are great hunter and fit very well in their environment.

This is how owls are almost the same and they hurt for food, look and what makes them so different and unlike each other. They are both animals but their so unique. The snowy owl looks so beautiful and lives. This are the two animals i pick they live in the complete opposite of each other and have almost the same adaptions. They are both really cool animals to study and i like them.
