Technology has enabled the church to reach wider audiences. Many people have access to phones, especial in the first world countries. People can miss church for different reasons but with the advent of ICTs? Web presence is the location on the World Wide Web (WWW) where a person can broadcast information. Researchers have found out that the younger generation spends most of their time on the internet.
The web presence of a church and how interactive it is will ultimately attract what is now referred to as cyber kids or a child of the information age.
As it stands now young people between the ages of 18 to 25 make 16% of the world population. How a church or ministry uses technology influences how people will view the ministry. According to research, over 60% of church-goers say that a church's website is important in facilitating their participation at church (CRCNA.org ).
A website allows congregants to explore serving opportunities at the church, connect with their fellow congregants and community, forward helpful information to others and interaction with the church leadership.
Instead of the church spending a lot of money printing out calendars, information about programs, and bulletins, and then making sure he are accessed by individual church members, the church can simply upload them and share them on your website. Doing this is also better for the environment.
Many Christians are no longer carrying bibles to church, let alone own one. This has bred a Laissez-faire attitude where everyone is doing as they please. It also creates a culture of over dependency on social media.
