Animal Farm is an allegory because it tells a story through the use of symbols and parallels to represent a deeper meaning. An allegory is a story that conveys a hidden moral, political or social message through its characters, events, and setting, that can be interpreted on multiple levels. In the case of Animal Farm, the story is parallel to the events that occurred in the Soviet Union from the beginning of the Russian Revolution in 1917 to Stalin's rise to power and the establishment of the Soviet Union as a communist state. The characters in the story represent historical figures, while the events in the story are parallel to real-life events that occurred during that period.
