The Outsiders is a novel by S. E. Hinton about a gang of teenagers in the 1960s. The story follows the fight between two rival gangs, the Greasers and the Socs, who live in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The book was published in 1967 and adapted into a film in 1983.
The book follows Ponyboy Curtis, who lives with his older brothers Mason and Soda, as he struggles with life after being attacked by a rival gang member at a party that he was attending with other members of The Greasers.
The Outsiders has sold over 5 million copies worldwide since it was first published. There are many themes throughout the book including loyalty, friendship and belonging to something bigger than yourself.
