The first book of the New Testament is Matthew.

Matthew tells the story of Jesus' birth, ministry, death, and resurrection. It is one of the four gospels written by Matthew, Mark, Luke and John who were all disciples of Jesus. Matthew's account is often thought to be the most Jewish-oriented of the four gospels because it contains more details about Jewish customs than the other three gospels do.
