East of Eden is a retelling of the story of Cain and Abel.
East of Eden is a novel written by John Steinbeck, published in 1952. It tells the story of two families, the Trasks and the Hamiltons, and how they interact over several generations. The novel is set in California's Salinas Valley, where Steinbeck grew up. The title comes from Genesis 4:16: "And Cain went out from the presence of the Lord, and dwelt in the land of Nod... east of Eden."
