Dally dies from being shot by the police.
Dally, also known as Dallas Winston, dies in The Outsiders, a novel written by S.E. Hinton. Dally was a troubled character who was a member of the Greasers and was a close friend of the main character, Ponyboy Curtis. Dally's death is a result of several events that lead up to a fatal confrontation with the police. Prior to this, Dally was devastated by the death of his best friend, Johnny, who died after a confrontation with the Socs that left Johnny critically injured. Dally's reaction to Johnny's death was extreme, and he became more reckless, angry, and desperate. He shows the police his gun and they shoot him in self-defence.
