In Shakespeare's play Macbeth, the prophesy that "Macbeth shall never vanquish’d be until Great Birnam Wood to high Dunsinane Hill shall come against him" plays a significant role in the downfall of the character. Ultimately, Macbeth is defeated by Macduff, who was able to kill him as a result of the events that led Birnam Wood to "move" (using th branches of its trees to disguise soldiers). Birnam Wood moving is an event that was prophesied by the three witches. The prophecy is that Macbeth will be invincible until Birnam Wood moves to Dunsinane Hill. This is interpreted to mean that Macbeth will not be overthrown and will remain King until the impossible happens. Also, Macbeth was not born of a woman in the traditional way, but via caesarean section.
