Shakespeare was old and wanted to stay in relationship with the dark lady, she used to lie to him all the time but he still believed her since he knew she is lying. he didn’t want to be a dishonest lover, he was fully aware of her betrayel and is in no illusion under her character.

Shakespeare used many literary devices in his poems. In sonnet 138, Shakespeare uses imagery and irony to indicate the nature of the relationship between him and the dark lady. To start with, Shakespeare uses verbal irony to initiate the betrayel of the dark lady of the inclination of bluff ignorance. The dark lady kept on lieying to Shakespeare, another meaning of verbal irony is lies since he knows that she lies to him but he is pretending not to know. The poet uses verbal irony to express her lying, for example, When my love swears that she is made of truth. The second example, That she might think me some untutor youth, Unlearned in the world false subtleties. The third example, Simply I credit her false speaking tongue. In the first piece of evidence, Shakespeare uses the word truth in an ironic way since he knows that she lies to him but he still believes her.The second piece of evidence is the most important since jealousy was used against the dark lady to show that she loves him. She is trying to make Shakespeare jealous for she is seeing other men.

The final piece of evidence, Shakespeare is also dishonest and he is fully aware of it and why she might think him ignorant but he still goes along since it flatters him. He feels happy because she cares about his ignorance and compassion towards her. Shakespeare went in depth through the mutual deception and cause of remaining in a relationship through using imagery. Imagery is used in this poem to tell us about the advantages of being in a relationship; for both the dark lady and Shakespeare. Shakespeare uses imagery to make the scenery more relatable to life experiences in love and relationships. Shakespeare uses imagery in many verses like. That she might think me some untutored youth, UnlearnГЁd in the world's false subtleties. The second example, Although she knows my days are past the best. The third example, Therefore I lie with her and she with me, And in our faults by lies we flattered be.

In the first piece of evidence, she pictures him as a lover thats not mature (in a sense of being young); she made him feel young again which is one possibility for her betrayel. He had a relationship with her for two possibilities feeling young again and mutual fullfilness. Although Shakespeare was old she made him feel young since definitely she is younger than him.In the second example, this verse is false since she knows that he is old. She dated Shakespeare although he is old and dishonest but she felt an approach towards him.The final example, this example can be analyzed in many ways but they all lead to a result, they both outwit one another, they both are flatterred; and the have no intention to break their physical relationship.

As a conclusion, the poet uses of particular devices like imagery and irony, the poet claims the mutual deceit that forms the nature of the relationship between him and the dark lady. In the relationship the dark lady had a physical betrayel, although she betrays him and makes him jealous they don’t leave one another sincphysical or interactive fullfilment is present.Although the dark lady was lying to Shakespeare, he would not have known the truth without the lies said. He wants to continue this relationship because he doesn’t want to be a dishonest lover. Yet, they ignore the truth and continue to be with each other, in all this romance Shakespeare refers to the human complication of love.
