Candy

Candy is an old swamper who has lost one hand and is now relegated to doing odd jobs around the ranch. He is lonely and eager to befriend George and Lennie, and he becomes invested in their dream of owning a farm.

Crooks

Crooks is a black stable hand on the ranch and is isolated from the other ranch workers due to racism. He is intelligent and well-read, but bitter and cynical due to his situation.

George

George is a small, quick-witted man who is the caretaker and friend of Lennie, a large and mentally disabled man. He dreams of owning his own land and being his own boss, but struggles with the responsibilities of taking care of Lennie.
