Une vie de boy is a novel by Senegalese author Ken Bugul. It tells the story of a boy named Mabo who grows up in Senegal in the early twentieth century. Mabo is born to a poor family and is forced to work as a servant for a wealthy family. He eventually runs away and joins a group of street children. Mabo becomes friends with a girl named N’Deye and together they help each other survive on the streets.Mabo is eventually captured and sent to a reform school. He escapes and returns to the streets. He is eventually caught by the police and sent to prison. In prison, Mabo meets a man named Babacar who tells him about a better life in America. Mabo decides to escape from prison and make his way to America.Mabo arrives in America and starts working in a factory. He eventually meets a girl named Fatou and they fall in love. Mabo starts to learn about the American way of life and starts to assimilate. He eventually becomes an American citizen and starts a family of his own.Une vie de boy is a story about the struggles of growing up poor and black in Africa. It is a story of hope and determination.
