The play begins with the English court preparing for war with France. Henry V is reluctant to lead his country into battle, but he is persuaded by his courtiers to do so. The English army invades France and quickly defeats the French forces. Henry then meets with the French king and demands that he surrender. The French king agrees to Henry’s demands, and the English army triumphantly returns to England.
