“Fuenteovejuna” is a play by Spanish playwright Lope de Vega. The play is set in the town of Fuenteovejuna, in the province of Extremadura, during the early 14th century. The play tells the story of how the town’s residents revolted against their lord, the Commander of Fuenteovejuna, after he raped one of the town’s women. The play is considered one of the most important works of Spanish literature.
