Cacambo

Cacambo is a faithful servant and friend to the main character Candide in Voltaire’s satirical novel Candide. He is an intelligent young man from South America who accompanies Candide on his adventures, providing loyalty, wisdom and resourcefulness to help them navigate through difficult situations.

Pangloss

Pangloss is a philosopher and mentor to the protagonist, Candide, in the book Candide by Voltaire. He is known for his optimistic worldview, believing that everything happens for the best and that the world is the best of all possible worlds. However, as the story unfolds and he experiences numerous hardships and tragedies, his optimism is challenged and eventually shattered.
