Collectivism is a theory and proactive of the ownership of land and the means of production by the people or the state. China and Mexico have these collectivistic cultures. Individuals are committed to being in extended relationships. These individuals are primarily concerned with each other before themselves. They practice selfless acts. They believe loyalty means everything, more than societal rules and regulations. (Country Comparison). The United States businesses are built around individuals instead of their companies. Each country is unique and has its own beliefs.

Building a personal relationship is not important if you are wanting to have a long and successful business relationship. (Kwintessential). Mexico seems to hold grudges. First impressions should be your best impressions if you expect to be successful. When looking to build a business with them you need to demonstrate trustworthiness, sincerity, and integrity. (Editorial, pg. 108). On the other hand, you would need to utilize ranking when doing business in China. China works best when they can make eye connections.

(Editorial, pg. 107). Monochronic and polychronic are crucial to how we view time within our cultures. Monochronic cultures like the United States and China prefer to do just one thing at a time.

Knowing that tasks will be completed in an orderly and on time and place. Polychronic cultures like Mexico prefer to do multiple things at the same time such as multitasking.

Two types of decision-making approaches are objective and/or subjective. An objective approach is a material body and anything that you can see or touch in time and space. Mexico practices this approach on hard evidence. The United States and China use a subjective approach. This approach is the thoughts, emotions, memories, states of mind, perceptions, and immediate sensations. Verbal and/or nonverbal communication is important for any type of success, especially business success. Mexico and the United States are big on nonverbal communication. They practice gestures, eye contact, facial expressions, personal space, etc.., to get their point across. Not all countries can relate to doing research is highly recommended. Direct eye contact in China for an extended time should be avoided, it may display a sign of disrespect.
