Queen Victoria was the Queen of England from 1837 to 1901. At the time of the start of her reign she was only 18. She was born among the brick walls of Kensington Palace. She had a great influence on her era and to later eras. She was born in 1819 and was the niece of William IV. Victoria s dad, died named Edward, Duke of Kent. when she was very little which madeher sad. Victoria s nickname as a child was Drina but here mom preffered to call her Victoria.

She was never left alone as a child as everyone feared one of her uncles would kill her. She spoke German for a while until she finally learned English.

Her favorite subject was history. She once saw a Royal family tree and realized how close she was to be throned. John Conroy was the person who really kept Queen Victoria safe as a child, he would have to hold her hand walking up a staircase even.

In her teen years Victoria got sick with tonsilitis. Conroy wanted her to sign document stating that he would be her secretary when she became Queen. She refused his offers without any doubt. She had a personality marked by strong prejudices and a willful stubborness. Victoria married her first cousin Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg in the year 1840.

Together they had nine children in their marriage. Victoria s first prime minister was Lord Melbourne. They became close friends and he helped her learn her role as queen. Queen Victoria made up most of the thrones of Europe with her descendants.

When Albert died in 1861 of Typhoid fever, Victoria was in great mourn after his death and really never got over it. During this time she made very few public appearances and spending most of her time in the Scottish Highlands. She made friends with John Brown who was really her only friend at time. Brown was five years younger than Victoria.

Brown died in the year 1883. Victoria s kids were Princess Victoria Adelaide Mary Louise who was the oldest. Prince Albert Edward, his nickname was Bertie. Princess Alice Maud Mary who later had seven children. Prince Alfred Ernest Albert whose nickname was Affie. Princess Helena Augusta Victoria who was dubbed Lenchen. Princess Louise Caroline Alberta, she had no children. Prince Arthur William Patrick who was Queen Victoria s longest surviving child. Prince Leopold George Duncan who had two children and finally the youngest child Princess Beatrice Mary Victoria who was appropiatly dubbed Baby.

Queen Victoria became very inpopular among the people. All of a sudden she got back the hearts of the people when she continued her efforts to steer public affairs. She got lots of rave followings for defending the popular imperialist policies of the Conservative ministries of Benjamin Disraeli. Prince Albert s rooms were kep exactly the same as they were when he was still alive. The servants even brought hot water every morning to his room for his usual routine shaving. Queen Victoria was an icon and when it as her fiftieth year of reign she was presented with a Golden Jubilee of public celebration.

Ten years later she got a Diamond Jubilee. Queen Victoria died in the year 1901, at the age of 83. She had left detailed plans for her funeral. She wished for her sons to lift her into her coffin. She wore a white dress and a wedding veil. Victoria disliked black funerals, so London was made up of purple and white. She was buried next to her husband Prince Albert in the Frogmore Royal Mausoleum at Windsor Castle. Victoria had reigned for nearly 64 years which is the longest reign in British history.
