Overview Of The Movie Ocean's 8

Ocean's 8 is yet another brilliant movie directed by Gary Ross that involves strong female leads since the Hunger games back in 2012. Oceans 8 came out not that long ago, back in June in the United Kingdom. We see some familiar actors like Sandra Bullock, Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter and many more we also see some new faces like Rihanna who is typically known for her songs and Awkwafina who seems to be getting bigger roles each year. Despite the film being part of a sires called ‘Ocean's’ directed by Steven Soderbergh, and critics say the film is just an all-female revamp, but I think the film deserves more credit than it gets, it has a good gripping storyline that I think the audience will enjoy.

I understand why critics are not loving it as it is very similar to the ‘Ocean's’ film and the fact that is all female as films that have re made a film but changing the cast to all female can ruin it.

or instance, ghost busters revamp back in 2016 was a very big fail in my opinion but oceans 8 worked as it did still link to the previous films.

The film starts off with convicted criminal Debbie Ocean (Sandra Bullock) getting let out, on parole from prison where she has been serving her sentence for several years for fraud, with hardly a penny to her name she heads to the streets of New York where she steals expensive beauty products and worms her way into a fancy hotel for the night.

This scene is essential as it shows us what kind of character Debbie is, she knows what she wants, and she gets it. The film then dives into and explores Debbie's past to give the audience a wider perspective on her life.

The storyline then changes to focus on more characters. I liked the fact that the film follows a linear structure, but it also has elements of a Multi-stranded narrative which makes the film more intriguing and gripping to watch. Debbie and her partner in crime Lou Miller (Cate Blanchett) start to line up a group of talented females such as thieves, hackers, and hustlers to help her pull off the heist to steal a Cartier necklace, the Toussaint with $150 million worth of diamonds at the met Galas annual fashion event at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art.Each member of the heist has a job to play such as Rose who is a fashion designer (Helena Bonham Carter), Amita a jeweller (Mindy Kaling), Constance the con artist (Awkwafina), Tammy stay at home hustler (Sarah Paulson) and hacker Nine Ball (Rihanna) and there's also late comer Daphne Kluger who knows the girls are up to no good (Anne Hathaway).

Despite the film not been written the best, I thought the cast did a really good job playing their roles if the Casting directors hadn't of done their job properly and not picked the actors they did I might not have enjoyed the film as much. Ocean’s 8 is a film aimed mostly at a more female audience I assume this as it is an all-female cast. Although the age rating of the film is a 12A I would say kids under 12 shouldn’t really watch it as it could put a thought into children heads that crime is good and show them how to get away with illegal behavior.

Overall, I think ocean’s 8 is a good movie I would recommend it to people I know as I found the film enjoyable even though the film doesn't add much to the world of heist films It was still worth the watch. I would give it a 7/10.
