What makes a hero? Many heroes are known for their bravery and achievements In the Old English days, Beowulf was known as their hero. My personal hero is God. The heroic characteristics that are shared between these two people are bravery, power, and fame. Beowulf was brave to confront his fights and win them. God is not scared about anything. Any task he can take. and is so powerful in doing so. Beowulf had the power of the swords when he was fighting.
Both are famous and well known to many. Both my hero and Beowulf are brave, powerful. and famous. Bravery is a heroic characteristic because, someone who is brave is willing to do things which are dangerous, and does not show fear in difficult or dangerous situations. The fights that Beowulf engaged in, required bravery. He fought three battles and won two. Many people thought that he was not going to succeed in his fight with Grendel. He could have stopped right then and there and doubted himself as well, yet he didnt because he was brave enough to stand up to the challenge.
God’s bravery is shown in Joshua 1:9. which states: “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” God is not afraid to do any task, he comes to the task ready to tackle it. Power is a heroic characteristic because. power is looked at as the capacny or ability to direct or influence the behavior of others or the course of events.
Beowulf was able to get 12 men to come and fight with him. His nephew (Wiglaf) went with him to fight the dragon. If he is able to have that much power and influence over people, he could over come any battle. He was not weak in any shape or form. God has a tremendous amount of power. This is seen a lot throughout the bible and the stories embedded in it. You can see the magnitude of God’s power in 2 Peter 1:3. This verse says: “His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.” It is amazing that EVERYTHING we need for a godly life after this earthly life here, we can get from him. And we receive this through our knowledge of him! That right there alone just blows me away. That is real power. Fame is a heroic characteristic because, it is the condition/state of being known or talked about by many people, especially on account of notable achievements. Beowulf was a well known hero throughout his time (era). He was known by many and came across the seas to fight and help protect people from Grendel (monster). The fact that he came so far and people that did not even live where he lived knew him just shows how famous and well-known he was. Any time there was a party in Herot Hall even/one was joyful and happy, they drank and were celebrating the victories Beowulf had won. God is known almost by everyone. Whether the person is religious or not, he is known. Joshua 6:27 says: ”So the LORD was with Joshua. and his fame was in all the land.” This is saying that he was known and people would know/see God through Joshua as he went out into the land. God would be shown through him‘ A hero or legend is known by their bravely, power, and fame. If they succeed at these things. then they will be well remembered and looked highly upon. I know that personally. God is and will always be my hero. Your hero is a person that you go to when you need help and you just need that protection or extra push. Everyone has a hero, and if you think about it, you could potentially be someone’s hero, Ever think about that?
